In a strong bowling performance that India will be happy to build on, Arshdeep Singh led the charge as India beat South Africa by seven wickets in the third T20I at Dharamsala, giving the hosts a 2–1 lead in the five-match series.
The day belonged to India’s pace battery, and none stood out more than Arshdeep and Harshit Rana. The duo made early inroads in the South African batting lineup, applying pressure right from the start and not letting the visitors get comfortable.
🔹 Arshdeep Singh (2/13)
The left-arm quick was back to his best, controlling the new ball and taking the crucial wicket of Reeza Hendricks for a duck in his first over. His disciplined line and swing made life difficult for the South African batters and set India up perfectly.
🔹 Harshit Rana (2/34)
Making waves in his own right, Harshit Rana backed up Arshdeep brilliantly. Rana struck early by dismissing seasoned opener Quinton de Kock, and later uprooted Dewald Brevis to leave South Africa reeling the Proteas were 3 for 7 inside the powerplay.
With contributions from other bowlers like Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy, India bundled out South Africa for 117, a modest total on a pitch that offered movement early on.
Chasing a small target, India’s batters didn’t let the pressure build. A solid start from the top order ensured a comfortable finish, with the hosts wrapping up victory in 15.5 overs.
Why This Win Matters
After a mixed start to the series a dominant opening win followed by a surprising loss in the second T20I this bowling effort showed India’s depth and adaptability. Both Arshdeep and Harshit now look like serious options for the upcoming T20 World Cup, especially with their ability to strike early and keep runs in check.
For Arshdeep, it was a classic comeback outing sharp, controlled, and impactful while Harshit announced himself with wickets that turned the game India’s way.
